Madhya Pradesh

Madhya Pradesh was the largest state in India until 1 November 2000, when the state of Chhattisgarh was carved out of it. It borders the states Uttar Pradesh to the north, Chhattisgarh to the east, Maharashtra to the southwest, Gujarat to the west and Rajastan to the northwest. The state has an area of 308,252 km 2 and population of 70 Mio. Its capital is Bhopal while Indore, the commercial capital of state, is the largest city. Gwalior and Jabalpur are popular tourist capitals of Madhya Pradesh.
